How many sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your injury or pain specifics and your response to treatment. Your physiotherapist will provide a tailored plan after the initial assessment with a provisional diagnosis and a predicted recovery time. A decision on the amount of sessions required to achieve your goals can then be made together.

  • If it seems that you would benefit from more than 5 sessions, or more than 10 sessions, then we offer discounted packs for 5 or 10 sessions across our Physiotherapy, Reformer Pilates and Personal Training services: Pricing

Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?

Yes, you are very welcome to bring a friend or family member to any of your sessions.

How do I know if I need physiotherapy?

If you are experiencing pain, reduced mobility, or recovering from an injury, physiotherapy may be beneficial. Many injuries settle on their own without pain, but if you are particularly worried, or if the pain isn’t recovering as you expected, Physiotherapy could be helpful for you.

What conditions can physiotherapy help with?

Physiotherapy can assist with a variety of issues, including back and neck pain, sports injuries, tendon pain, muscle strains, joint sprains, arthritis, postural pain, and rehabilitation after surgery. At Better, we specialise in providing high quality Physiotherapy, solving complex cases and treating chronic pain.

What should I wear to my physiotherapy appointment?

Wear comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. For example, shorts for lower limb issues or a vest for shoulder problems. Some sessions may involve the use of our onsite gym; please dress in something that you are comfortable to carry out exercise within the gym.

Is physiotherapy painful?

Some treatments may cause discomfort, but physiotherapists aim to minimize pain and will adjust techniques as needed. Some residual soreness can persist for a day or so after assessments and manual therapy techniques, but most sessions result in immediate pain relief.

Exercise based physiotherapy sessions can lead to flare ups of the pain area, your physiotherapist will provide guidance on how best to manage these.

If you are unaccustomed to an exercise completed in your sessions, this can result in delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS). This is a normal part of the recovery and adaptation process. If needed, take it easy for a day or two before returning to normal levels of activity. Most cases of DOMS settle in a few days, the worst cases can last up to a week.

What happens during the first session?

The initial session typically includes a discussion about injury or pain issues, a detailed lifestyle and medical history, a physical assessment, and the development of a personalized treatment plan. In some sessions, we may even have time to commence treatment.

What types of treatments are used?

Treatments can include manual therapy, exercise programs, electrotherapy, and education on posture, lifestyle and movement strategies.
